Gladiator Technologies Launches New MEMS Motion Reference Module - the MRM10

MRM10 is a 6 Degrees of Freedom (DOF) Analog Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)

April 14, 2006 – Gladiator Technologies announced today the release of its most complex product to date, the new MRM10 Motion Reference Module. The all new 6 DOF analog IMU is a small low cost and low power MEMS analog IMU. It offers extraordinary bias performance for an analog IMU in a small package at low cost.

Key features include:

  • Low Cost Silicon MEMS 6DOF Analog IMU

  • Excellent Bias, Bias Over Temperature and g-Sensitivity

  • Bias Over Temperature ≤ 0.5º/sec performance available

  • Small Size < 4.3cm3

  • Low Power < 200mW

  • Light Weight < 122gm

  • Bandwidth > 100 Hz

  • Vibration Isolation

  • Precision Axis Alignment ± 1 degree

  • 3 Internal Temperature Sensor

  • Low Voltage +5V (single sided power)

  • Self Test

  • Shock Resistant

  • Long Life

  • Export Classification ECCN7A994

Designed for commercial applications, the MRM10 is rugged 6DOF analog IMU suitable for automotive test and other motion measurment applications.

Gladiator's CEO, Mark Chamberlain, said, "The MRM10 has been designed with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and optimized to reduce vibration effects with built-in vibration isolation. It is our first multi-axis device employing both accelerometers and gyros for a complete analog 6 DOF IMU. The small size and low cost yet rugged design enable new motion measurement applications that prefer an analog output. It is ideal for many automotive testing applications." Gladiator's team includes more than 100 years of combined MEMS and inertial experience in multiple technologies and countless commercial and military applications.

Chamberlain added, "Importanly, GTI engineering has employed a well thought out design methodology that employs a modular systems design approach. The MRM10 as well as the new digital systems design for both the LandMark10 and LandMark20 product families, will have the same form factor and a high degree of common parts. Both the IMU, AHRS and inertial subassemblies of the IMU/GPS and GPS/AHRS of both product families utilize this common core. This will enables GTI to offer both lower cost to our customers as well as a natural upgrade path will a high degree of commonality as well as the same form factor when customers find they applications requiring higher performance. Gladiator Technologies CTO, Rand Hulsing, added, "This modular approach for mechanical, electrical and sofware design means we can invest extensively upfront in systems engineering and that translates into many added benefits across all of our products and product families."
