Gladiator Technologies Launches Next Generation LandMark10 MEMS IMU

Significantly Improved Environmental Performance and Quality

March 3, 2007 – Gladiator Technologies announced today the production launch of their next generation LandMark10 MEMS IMU. This improved redesign of our popular MEMS IMU includes multiple design and performance enhancements including:

  • Improved Modeling Algorithms Enabling Better Bias Over Temperature Performance

  • Improved In-Run Bias Stability to 10°-100°/Hour typ.

  • Increased Data Rate to 200Hz

  • Expanded Environmental Ranges for Both Vibration and Shock

  • Reduced Noise Electronics

  • Reduced Accelerometer & Gyro Channel Noise

  • Reduced Power Supply Sensitivity Enabling Either +3.3V or +5V Input Range

  • Improved ESD Resistance

  • Improved High Reliability of Electronics

  • Improved IMU DEMO KIT Display Interface Including Self Test Switch and Autonomous Battery Power Supply

Designed for commercial applications, the LandMark10 IMU is ideal for rugged applications requiring low power, small size, low cost and excellent inertial performance from a MEMS IMU.

Gladiator's CEO, Mark Chamberlain, said, "We are excited about the launch of our next generation MEMS IMU. Many of the new product improvements came from inputs from our global customer base. By listening to our customers we've been able to substantially improve the product and meet the future needs of our customers. The next generation LandMark10 IMU is at the heart of our new MEMS systems including our LandMark10 AHRS, which will be released to production at the end of the first quarter. Other systems coming out in the first half of this year include both our rechargeable battery-powered LandMark10 IMU/GPS and GPS/AHRS."

Gladiator's CTO, Rand Hulsing, who has more than 60 patents in MEMS inertial technologies commented, "We've utilized state-of-the-art design methods including Finite Element Analysis in our Modal Analysis. Our modeling algorithms and digital electronics enable low gyro and accelerometer noise for improved bias over temperature performance as well as compensated misalignment and g-sensitivity. The LandMark10 IMU is an ultra low power device typically consuming only 1/3 of a watt. The technology within this IMU enables the best performance vs. price ratio available today." Some key features of the next generation LandMark10 MEMS IMU include:

  • Fully Temperature Compensated Bias, Scale Factor, Misalignment and G-Sensitivity

  • Low Power < 1/3 watt typical

  • Light Weight <122 grams

  • Small Size <67.5cm3/4.1in3

  • Low Voltage +3.3V or +5V (single sided power)

  • RS485 Output 200Hz Data Rate

  • Sensor Bandwidth 100Hz

  • Built-in Vibration Isolation

  • Precision Alignment

  • 3 Internal Temperature Sensors

  • Self Test

  • Shock Resistant

  • Long Life

The next generation LandMark10 IMU is in full production and small quantity orders are typically fulfilled off the shelf. The export commodity classification is U.S. Department of Commerce category ECCN7A994. An additional option available is the IMU DEMO KIT which has all the cabling included to enable direct IMU to PC connection from the IMU's RS485 to the PC's RS232 interface. Also included is a self-contained battery powered power supply, self test switch and display software for each rate and acceleration channel, temperature and pass/fail display for self test. Software drivers are also included to ease user integration of the IMU into their systems.
